Not a metaphor. During Practice Day at Augusta National, patrons place their folding green chairs anywhere on the course, walk away, and find them exactly where they left them when they return. It is one of those small traditions that tells you everything about what kind of place Augusta is — and what kind of week this is.

Over nine days in April 2027, you will stand inside the gates on Tuesday morning while cameras are still permitted, watching the world's best players work the course at their own pace. You will walk fairways designed by Alister MacKenzie. You will stand on the 16th — the hole where Tommy Fleetwood made his hole-in-one in 2021 — and then, on Sunday, you will watch a Green Jacket ceremony unfold thirty yards in front of you.

In between, there is South Carolina. The polo capital of the South. An 1872 boutique inn where horses still have right of way on the streets outside. Three private courses that don't open to visitors — except, this week, to you.

In between your days at the US Masters, we will be playing golf at Palmetto, The Reserve, and the new course making a name for itself Old Barnwell, which was recently named Golf Digest’s No2 Best New Private Course in the USA 2025.
